It’s always fun to go shopping when away on holidays. When staying at Quartiers Marbella Apartments you are close to some of the very best fashion shops in the world. That is Puerto Banus. There you can find all the finest designer shops and brands you can imagine. The shops in Puerto Banus are open very late at night in summer, so there is no need to skip the pool or the beach to go shopping. In Puerto Banus, you also find Spain’s famous department store, El Corte Ingles, where you can find almost anything that is on your mind.

Things to buy in Spain

SHOES AND BOOTS

Shoes and boots are very much cheaper in Spain than in many other European countries. Check for leather shoes made in Spain, they are almost always very high quality. El Corte Ingles is a great place to shop for shoes.

LEATHER BAGS AND WALLETS

Many of the most famous designer brands have their leather bags and wallets manufactured in Ubrique, a small town in the mountains, in Southern Spain. The whole town is involved in the industry, and high-quality handbags are designed and made to order. But, not only well-known brand bags are made, but they also manufacture a wide range of purses, wallets and handbags with their brands that are sold all over Spain.

LEATHER JACKETS AND COATS

Yes, leather again. The quality of leather outerwear is very high in Spain, and the price of leather jackets and coats are very affordable, comparing to the rest of Europe.

ZARA AND MANGO

Zara and Mango are popular all over the world. The prices tend to be lower in Spain, and when they have sales you can get very good value for money. Primark is one of the teenager’s favourites, but you will have to go to the shopping centre Miramar, in Fuengirola, to find them.

PERFUMES & COSMETICS

Perfumes and cosmetics are cheaper in Spain than in northern Europe. The difference can be remarkable, so forget about airport-shopping and check the prices in local shops while staying in Marbella. Primor is the cheapest perfume shop in Spain, you can find it in Marbella, San Pedro, Estepona and in Marbella’s shopping centre, La Cañada. They carry all the major perfume and cosmetic brands, and the retail prices are around 30 per cent lower than in other shops.

SAFFRON

Saffron is a classic souvenir from Spain. It is a nice gift too. Spanish saffron is very high quality, and the price is attractive. As the packets are small they are easy to carry so buy some to do your paellas when you get home and some for your mother, sisters and brothers.

OLIVE OIL

One of the best things you can buy in Spain is olive oil if you can pack it in your suitcase. Remember that you can´t carry liquids in your hand luggage if you are travelling by plane. Make sure you buy “Aceite de Oliva Virgen Extra”.

JAMON IBERICO – SPANISH HAM

Cured Iberico ham is something very popular, and hard to find outside Spain. You can buy the ham across the country. The best ones proceed from Huelva, Salamanca and Granada. If you’re looking for gifts for loved ones, then Jamón Iberico is perfect. You can ask to get it sliced and vacuum-packed.

BLUE WINE

What has happened when a wine is blue? A couple of years ago, a group of young Basques started an innovative and daring project. They began to manufacture a blue wine made from grapes collected from all over the Spanish peninsula and natural pigment from a plant that, when reacting with the anthocyanins present in the peel of the grapes, results in a fluorescent blue wine. Even though not everyone in Spain agrees to call it wine and the law decided that it is not, you might want to try for yourself whether or not it is a wine for the most demanding palates. The price of a bottle varies between 6.5 and 10 euro.

If you get tired after a long day of shopping, don´t worry. The beds in the apartments at Quartiers Marbella are so comfortable that you will want to bring them home when you leave. Also, there is no noise, no traffic or anything else that disturbs your sleep.
