Spring, Summer, Autumn & Winter

On Costa del Sol

It is hard to say when the best time to visit Marbella is. It all depends on what you are looking for, and what you want to do. Most people do get summer, beaches, sunbathing and parties on their mind when mentioning Marbella and the Costa del Sol. But there is so much you can do and see when visiting this legendary tourist resort in Southern Spain.

Marbella

The best time to visit Marbella

There is no best time to visit Marbella. It all depends on your expectations and what you are looking to find. One could almost say that the Costa del Sol only has two seasons, summer and winter. If you are dreaming of holidays with endless sunny days on the beach, and parties, you should come to Marbella in Summer. If you enjoy playing golf in the sunshine with pleasant temperatures you should visit Marbella in fall, winter or spring.

Summer in Marbella

Luxury, celebrities, beaches, yachts, exclusive clubs and restaurants, that’s the general opinion about the summer in Marbella. But, you can also spend your summer holidays in Marbella even if you travel on a low-cost budget if you shop around for accommodation and live like the locals. The summer in Marbella is always hot and sunny. Peak season is August, the city gets crowded, and it is when the nightlife is intense. The traffic can be heavy, and it is almost always hard to find a parking space.

Fall in Marbella

When the summer tourists have departed, the temperatures are still warm enough for a dip in the Mediterranean and most days are sunny and pleasant. Autumn sees most of the benefits of summer weather, but without the crowds. The temperatures in Marbella in autumn are high, over 20ºC, until November. It is a perfect time to play golf, go horseriding, cycling or hiking. Evenings at this time of the year can become a little bit chilly, but in the daytime, you can still sunbathe and catch a nice tan, and go for a swim, of course.

Winter in Marbella

The winter months are low season on Costa del Sol, except for Christmas and New Year. Even so, it is a magnificent time to visit the area. On sunny winter days, you can spend lovely moments on the terraces and beach promenades. Winter also is the perfect time to do excursions. There are many fascinating places to visit: Sierra Nevada, Granada, Caminito del Rey, Ronda, Seville, Malaga and many more. Nightlife is quieter in winter than in summer. Some clubs are closed, others only open on weekends. It does rain sometimes in Marbella in winter. But, the average number of sunny days per year in Marbella is 320, so you will most likely have a nice vacation even if you visit us this time of the year.

Spring in Marbella

When spring arrives at the Costa del Sol life quickly becomes more bustling. Especially in Easter, Spain’s Holy Week. Spring is the perfect time to enjoy the Old Town in Marbella. Take a walk through the narrow streets and beautiful town squares. Feel the intense scent of orange blossom and jasmine that are typical at this time of year. You can enjoy dinner on the terrace of one of the many small restaurants on the narrow and charming pedestrian streets. While strolling around, churches, small chapels, boutiques and artisan shops will surprise you around every corner.
